Security & IT Projects: See Our Work

Tell us about your doors

The building, roughly how many doors, how people get in today and your timeline are enough to start. We come back with next steps and a site visit if needed.

Bryant Vasquez, CTO of DIST

“We solve AV and IT challenges with passion, speed & integrity. Happy to sit on a call to discuss your AV and IT needs.”

What do you need help with?

Commercial Access Control Services

Readers, locks, controllers and software designed together, so the right people get in and everyone else stays out.

Phone held up to a wall-mounted door reader as a mobile credential

Keycard, fob & mobile credentials

Readers that accept cards, fobs and phones or watches, so you can retire plastic cards over time and revoke a lost credential in seconds from any browser.

DIST technician checking a system from a phone

Cloud-based management

Add users, set schedules, unlock a door for a delivery and pull entry reports from a phone, for one building or every location on one dashboard.

Exterior camera installed under a soffit near a building entrance

License plate recognition & gates

Automated vehicle entry for garages and gated lots that reads plates, opens barriers and logs every car without a guard or a ticket.

Finger on a fingerprint reader beside an office door

Biometric & facial recognition entry

Fingerprint, palm and AI facial recognition readers for server rooms, executive floors and high-traffic lobbies, with dual-factor options where it matters.

Speed gate turnstiles in a modern office lobby

Visitor & elevator access

Digital check-in with temporary credentials, elevator destination control and room-level permissions so visitors and contractors reach only the floors they should.

Dome camera installed above a corridor door

CCTV integration

Every badge event, forced door and tailgating alert matched to video automatically, on one platform with your cameras.

How We Plan an Access Control System

We work through these four points with you during design, before any equipment is ordered.

Doors & hardware

Each door surveyed for lock type, frame, fire code and egress, so strikes, maglocks and request-to-exit devices are specified correctly.

Credentials & roles

Who gets in where and when, mapped to roles for employees, contractors and visitors before anything is programmed.

Network & power

Controllers, PoE and backup power sized so doors keep working through an outage and fail safe or secure as code requires.

Integration

Ties to cameras, intercoms, alarms, HR systems and your IT so one record covers who came and went.

Industries We Serve

Access control designed for how each building is used and who needs to move through it.

Our Access Control Installation Process

One door or a whole campus, the sequence is the same, and every door is tested before handover.

  1. Site survey

We walk every door with you, note hardware, frame, power and cable paths, and review the credentials and systems already in place.

  2. Design & permissions plan

A door-by-door design with readers, locks and controllers, plus the access levels and schedules your team will run.

  3. Cabling & power

Low-voltage cabling, controller enclosures and backup power installed while walls are open where possible.

  4. Installation

Readers, locks and controllers mounted and wired by our crews, after hours in occupied buildings, with fire and egress code verified.

  5. Programming & integration

Users, roles, schedules, mobile credentials and camera integration configured and tested door by door with you.

  6. Training & support

Your team learns to add users, pull reports and unlock remotely, then our help desk and monitoring take it from there.

Access Control Support & Maintenance

DIST monitors enrolled controllers remotely, keeps a help desk answering 24/7 and sends engineers on site when a reader, lock or controller needs attention.

  • Remote monitoring of controllers and door status
  • Lock, reader and strike maintenance
  • Firmware and security updates
  • User and credential administration on request
  • Entry report assistance for incidents and audits
  • Support for systems installed by other integrators

Access control questions

Cost, credentials, security and integration, answered.

How much does a commercial access control system cost?

It depends on the number of doors, the reader and lock hardware each door needs, whether you want mobile or biometric credentials, and the cabling involved. After a site survey we send a fixed, itemized proposal so you can compare options door by door.

Can I use my phone instead of a keycard?

Yes. We install readers that accept mobile credentials on a phone or watch alongside cards and fobs, so you can move staff to mobile over time and revoke a lost credential instantly.

Is cloud-based access control secure?

Yes, when installed correctly. Controllers sit on a segmented network, credentials are encrypted, and doors keep working locally if the internet drops. Cloud management means you can add or remove users and see entry logs from anywhere.

Can access control work with my cameras?

Yes. We integrate access control with CCTV so every badge event, forced door or tailgating alert is matched to video, and facial or license plate recognition can grant entry.

Can you control elevators and individual rooms?

Yes. Elevator destination control and room-level readers let you decide who reaches which floor and which room, on which schedule, from the same platform as your doors.

How do you handle visitors and contractors?

Digital check-in issues a temporary credential, often a QR code or mobile pass, that expires automatically and is logged against the host who approved it.

What happens to the doors during a power outage?

Controllers run on backup power, and each door is set to fail safe or fail secure according to fire and egress code. We verify this with you during commissioning.

Can you upgrade or take over an existing access control system?

Yes. We reuse wiring and hardware that still perform, replace what does not, and migrate users and schedules onto one platform. We also support systems installed by other integrators.

Where do you install access control systems?

Nationwide. We handle single sites and multi-site rollouts across the United States.

Planning a new or upgraded access control system?

Tell us the building, the doors you need secured and the timeline. A DIST engineer will survey the site, then come back with a door-by-door design, a schedule and a number.
